1. What the app stores locally

Little Steps can store a child nickname and age, routines and tasks, completion history, diamonds and reward progress, adventure progress, preferences, furniture ownership and placement, local notification/timer state, and a salted derived representation of the parent PIN. The PIN itself is not stored in plaintext. Legacy customization records needed for safe migration may remain locally.

Optional task photos selected by a parent are copied into private app storage. Small-step checklist progress, the selected first task and First–Then settings are also stored locally. The home-screen widget reads local task and progress information; people who can see your home screen may see its contents.

Local settings also include Trust mode, child or personal-use mode, parent cheers, comic-page viewing state and optional lantern records. Comic unlocks and Pip’s growth are derived from local task history. Speech uses an installed offline Android text-to-speech voice; the app does not record speech.

2. What leaves the device

The reviewed tester build has no Internet permission and does not upload family routine data or selected task photos. If you choose to print or save a routine chart, Android’s print system receives the child nickname, routine names, task titles and durations in the chart. The printer, PDF destination or print service you choose handles that output. Copies you print or save outside the app are not removed when you uninstall Little Steps.

3. Data we do not collect

Little Steps does not access the camera, microphone, contacts, location, SMS or call logs, and does not use advertising identifiers or tracking SDKs. It has no child email account or medical-record feature. Optional images explicitly selected by a parent are the exception to general photo/file access: the app receives the selected image and stores a local copy; it does not browse the entire photo library.

4. Notifications

If a parent enables reminders, Little Steps uses local Android notifications. Android permission and battery rules still apply. Reminder scheduling stays on the device.

5. Backup and transfer

Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for Little Steps app data. There is currently no Little Steps cloud backup or sync.

6. Children and families

Little Steps includes a child-facing routine experience and a PIN-protected parent area. We intentionally avoid advertising, tracking, open chat, stranger communication and public child profiles.

The separate ‘For me’ mode is intended for teen or adult self-use and does not use the child-mode parent PIN. Trust mode is an optional parent setting in child mode.

7. Deleting local data

There is no server account to delete. Clearing Little Steps storage in Android Settings or uninstalling the app removes local app data. There is currently no cloud restore.

Parents can remove a selected task photo in the task editor. Removing the app copy does not delete the original image from the photo library.

8. Website and support

The website does not use advertising or analytics scripts. The web server may keep standard security/access logs such as IP address, browser type, requested page and timestamp. If an adult emails support, the mail service processes that message and sender address so we can reply.

9. Feedback tickets

The optional tester feedback form is separate from the offline Android app. It creates a private support ticket. Contact email, name, app version and device details are optional. Do not include children’s names, diagnoses, medical records or passwords. Resolved tickets are deleted after 180 days; inactive unresolved tickets after 365 days; private database backups rotate after 14 days.

10. Changes and contact

If data practices change, this policy and the Google Play Data Safety declaration will be updated before the changed behavior is released. Privacy/support contact: support@littlesteps.click.
